Randeep Hooda (was born 20
August 1976) is an Indian film actor & horseman. Best known for his
work in the Hindi movie industry, he is the recipient of accolades such as
2 Stardust Awards & a nomination each for the Filmfare &
the International Indian Film Academy Awards.
Randeep Hooda made his Hindi
first movie debut with Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding in 2001.
However, little recognition came his way & he went on to appear in a spate
of critically & commercially unsuccessful projects including D in
2005 & Karma Aur Holi in 2009. A turning point in his career came
when Randeep Hooda starred in the commercially successful Once Upon a Time
in Mumbaai in 2010, & it was subsequently noted for his performance
in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster in 2011, which earned him an IIFA
Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination. His starring roles in
thrillers Jannat 2 in 2012 & Jism 2 (2012) sustained
his success at the box office as he continued to garner praise for his
performances in such movies as the road drama Highway in 2014 &
the biopics Rang Rasiya in 2014 & Sarbjit in 2016.
In addition to his movie career,
Randeep Hooda has acted in numerous stages of plays & had made his debut as
a playwright with an adjustment of Lee Blessing's A Walk in
the Woods. He is also a professional horseman who regularly
participates in polo, show
jumping & dressage events. He won a silver medal at an open
dressage event in New Delhi that was organized by the Equestrian
Federation of India.

Early life
& family background
Randeep Hooda
was born in a Decent family, on 20 August 1976. Randeep Hooda's parents are Dr.
Ranbir Hooda & Asha Devi Hooda. His father Dr. Ranbir Hooda is a medical
surgeon & his mother Asha Devi Hooda is a social worker. He spent most of
his childhood with his grandmother in their hometown as his parents traveled
widely, & abide in the Middle East for the most part. He has an elder
sister, Anjali Hooda Sangwan, a medical (MBBS, MD) doctor trained in India
& in the United States of America, & a younger brother Sandeep Hooda, a
Software Engineer working in Singapore.
Randeep Hoda was educated
at Motilal Nehru School of Sports (MNSS), a boarding school in Rai,
Haryana, where he participated in swimming & horseman sports & won
medals at the national level. Randeep Hooda later developed an interest in
theatre & participated in school productions, one of which he directed. In
an interview with Rediff.com, he said he enjoyed rising in front of
people. However, his family wanted him to become a doctor & he was
transferred to Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram in New Delhi.
Randeep Hooda described the transition from an environment in which he was
popular to one in which he was unknown as "difficult".
After completing his schooling,
Randeep Hooda shift to Melbourne, Australia, in 1995, where he studied for
a bachelor's degree in marketing & a master's degree in business management
(BM) & human resource management (HRM). During that period, he
worked in a Chinese restaurant, a car wash, as a waiter & for 2 years as a
taxi driver. In 2000, Randeep Hooda returned to India & worked in the
marketing department of an airline in India. He subsequently started modelling
& working in amateur theatre in Delhi. While rehearsing for the play To
Teach His Own, director Mira Nair approached Randeep Hooda to
audition for a role in her upcoming film. Besides movies, Randeep Hooda came
into the limelight because of his relationship with Sushmita Sen, with whom he
eventually broke up.

intense actor, Randeep Hooda is deliberated one of India's most striking
celebrities. In 2010, he ranked 21st in The Times of India's annual
